Editing workshop 1
When we edit the video, every shots we have is footage. When we import footages into the software, it becomes rushes. Rushes are all the videos that have not been edited before. Normally, we should create a folder named 'bin', we should move all the rushes we want into the bin, so we can edit from the bin folder as it includes all the good rushes.
On the screen, there should have four sections. On the top there are two sections which playing the videos, on the left side, it should play the rushes I have selected. On the top right, it plays the video that I have been edited. On the bottom, there are rushes folders and bin folders where all the footages are. On the right side is where we edit the video and the timeline. Before we do anything such as edit or copy, we need to make sure that we have selected the right section. Where we selected should have a blue square around it, which means that we are working with that section.
The timeline is for us to see the timing and length of the video. To edit the video, we just need to drag the rushes inside the timeline. When we drag in the rushes we need to be careful of that the audio and video doesn't overlap other rushes. If we overlap any rushes, it will automatically deleted the overlapped parts. To trim and shorten the video, we just need to select the clip and there will appear a red arrow. We can cut shorten the video by moving the arrow.
If we made any mistake while we edit the video, we can press 'Command+z' which is the short cut for undo. The cutting tool is on the left side of the bottom right section which is where the timeline is. The cutting tool will cut the clip into sections. We just need to click where we want to cut it, then the clip became two or more clips. We can look at the timeline in order to know where we should cut the clip. There is a line following the time when the clip is playing so we can clearly see where we should cut or where to shorten the clip.
